New immigration legislation fell short of immigration advocacy groups expectations.
The advocacy group FWD.us said the bills – which they had hoped would include preventing local and state law enforcement from being deputized as immigration enforcement officers and a measure meant to aid immigrants in receiving occupational licensing – said the failure was due to politics being played in the final hours.
The advocacy groups said they hope the legislature in Albany will reconsider the New York For All Act and the Empire State Licensing Act.
