Governor Kathy Hochul marked the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) to further advance the goals put forth but the ADA.
Passing a new law that gives those with intellectual and developmental disabilities more control over their own life decisions.
The new law creates a formal legal process for those with intellectual, developmental, psychosocial and cognitive disabilities to be able to make their own decisions about their lives, instead of leaving that decision-making to a family member or legal guardian.
