New York Attorney General Letitia James is telling credit card companies they will not be permitted to sue people for old debts.
The Consumer Credit Fairness Act of 2021 is now in effect. It was put in place as new state consumer debt protection law. James said that companies had been using unfair and abusive tactics to collect debts improperly.
